Hey, my name’s Mar (they/them). In my 30s, trying to escape OH. Know it’s not a traditional bad state but my physical disability/gender intersect with OH’s policies in a way that leaves me uniquely and increasingly vulnerable the longer I stay here.
I receive roughly $950 in SSI/SSDI benefits per month and need to relocate to NY, IL, CA, or possibly MA (for medical care and trans saftey reasons). “In-kind support” would dictate my exact contribution but please don’t let that scare you. It basically just means my rent contribution depends on how much rent/utilities/cost of living are; it’ll vary city to city.
Looking to room with someone else who’s also generally quiet, tidy, and COVID-safe. Ideally someone with lived, experiential understanding of disability justice principles—who gets people know their own needs best and state programs don’t keep us safe. A private home with no more than one step between the street and the front door, where we don’t have to contend with unmasked, unvaccinated maintenance people would be such a relief but an apartment could work too.
Little wary about throwing my email out onto a public forum but will be keeping an eye out for open room postings. Please do post if you might have a space that might work!
